Letter From Moose

Dear Asbury UMC RESET Student Ministry,

It is with a saddened heart that I turned in my letter of resignation from my position as the Director of Student Ministries at Asbury United Methodist Church.  The past three and a half years in which I have served the youth, parents and volunteers in the RESET Student Ministry have been an experience filled with love and joy.  I have been in the process of following my calling of ordination as a deacon within the United Methodist Church and as I approach the final part of this journey in March 2019, I am faced with a difficult decision.  Asbury United Methodist Church is no longer able to have a fifth ordained minister on staff at this time.  In order to continue to follow my calling as an ordained deacon, I had to begin to look for other positions outside of Asbury UMC.  After much prayer and seeking God’s guidance, I have been called to take the Director of Youth Ministry position at Carrollton First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Georgia.  My last day on-site will be December 16, 2018 after which I will be take my remaining two weeks of vacation time.  My last day of employment at Asbury United Methodist Church will be December 31, 2018.

Thank you so much to the families who have allowed me to be a minister to their youth and to walk alongside them during these difficult years of being a teenager.  I have seen God move in the lives of the youth through the dedication of Asbury UMC to care for and nurture these teenagers. I will always fondly remember my time at Asbury and cherish the relationships that were built with the youth, parents and volunteers.

The RESET Student Ministry has loved me and my family during our time at Asbury, and I am grateful and humbled by that love.  Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your lives and for your support.  I know God has great things in store for Asbury United Methodist Church and the RESET Student Ministry.
