Girls' Ministry

Hello, Asbury Youth Parents!  My name is Angel McPhearson and I am a long time adult volunteer in the youth ministry here at Asbury. My husband, Greg, and I have been members of Asbury since around October/November 1992; it's hard to believe it's been 25 years already! Shortly after we joined Asbury, we became involved as adult volunteers in the youth program and kept volunteering until our first child was born in 1999. After that, we stepped away from youth for awhile to raise our children and I returned as a regular volunteer when our oldest joined the youth in 6th grade. We have four children, three of whom have already been or are currently involved with the youth:

Caroline--age 18 (freshman at Jacksonville State University)
Ellie---age 15 (sophomore at Pelham High School)
John---age 11 (sixth grader at Pelham Park Middle School)
Adam---age 9 (fourth grader at Pelham Oaks Elementary School)

My children have loved being a part of the Asbury community and I have been honored to be a volunteer leader. Over the years, I have helped facilitate many small groups and girls bible studies as well as chaperoning numerous retreats, mission trips and service projects. It has been a joy for me to work, laugh and learn more about God right alongside them. I truly love being with them!

Recently, I accepted a volunteer position to head up the Girls Ministry in order to help out Moose and Joe. While we all know that Moose and Joe are fantastic youth directors and fully capable leaders, there are times when a female's input is greatly needed. So, that is where I (and other mom volunteers) come in!  We are beginning to meet with some of the youth girls to find out how we can best minister to them and they already have many ideas we hope to implement very soon!  If you would like more information on how you or your daughter can become involved in this planning process OR if you have questions, please feel free to text me at 205.908.1220 or email me at

I look forward with excitement to all God has in store!

In Christ's love,
Angel McPhearson
